| 2012 Hope that you had a wonderful holiday season. This past year has been a year of change for many. Between the recession, job losses, and massive federal and state law changes, it has proved to be a trying year. The news media reminds us daily that we are facing major problems in this country. Our national debt is an alarming $15 trillion and climbing. Our economy is still struggling to produce jobs and get healthy again. Our politicians seem unable to grapple with even the smallest issue without partisan bickering that leads nowhere. Without a doubt, 2012 is an important year. The presidential election coming up in November, the Supreme Court's ruling on the new health care law expected this summer, and the expiration of the current tax rates and rules on December 31, 2012, are major events that will have an impact on all of us and on the taxes we pay. This was considered by some analysts to be the year when the first signs of economic turnaround would arrive. After a difficult start to 2011, that hopeful prediction began taking shape, albeit slowly. The slow, steady new hiring growth is reason for optimism in a region hit hard by the recession, and several positives emerged in 2011 indicating the turnaround might be real. We will need to be optimistic and keep our fingers crossed and we head into 2012. In other good news we have expanded into the Bay. We opened a sister company East Bay Tax Group, in Livermore, CA, this is our new meeting area for our bay area clients.
